Non-League Altrincham showed support for fighting homophobia by wearing uniforms that were rainbow-based. The National League North Side usually wears red and white stripes were the first team to wear shirts inspired by the LGBT flag. According to director Bill Waterson, it was “a big statement.” The support from the players’ fight against homophobia was very much appreciated and hopefully will inspire other leagues to join and continue the fight against homophobia.
