Chiefs take victory at Super Bowl LVII

Super Bowl LVII was one for the books, as it brought a fourth Super Bowl victory for the Chiefs, as well as some notable moments and drama. While it was relatively low scoring in comparison to past Super Bowls, with the final score being 25-22, many fans still consider it to be just as exciting as the ones before it.

This year’s game was very unpredictable, with San Francisco being in the lead for the second, third, and most of the fourth quarter, when the Chiefs suddenly tied with them, resulting in the game going into overtime.

At the end of the first quarter, the score was 0-0, with nobody in the lead. At the end of the second quarter, however, the 49ers were put in the lead, with the score being 10-3. San Francisco still had a three-point lead on the Chiefs at the end of the third quarter, the official score being 13-10. The pressure really started to build up during the fourth quarter, when the teams tied 19-19, and the game was led into overtime. During overtime, the 49ers were up by 3 due to a record-breaking field goal, when the Chiefs miraculously scored a touchdown with just 13 seconds left, finishing the game 25-22 in favor of the Chiefs.

Recognizable moments of the Super Bowl

  • During the second quarter, 49ers kicker Jake Moody kicked a successful field goal from 55 yards, which set a new record for the longest field goal in Super Bowl history.
  • A clip of Travis Kelce, a Chiefs tight end, has gone viral on social media, as it shows Kelce yelling at his coach Andy Reid on the sidelines. While Kelce won’t share what he said with reporters, it is known that he was yelling at his coach due to the fact he wasn’t on the field during an important play.
  • Taylor Swift, a renowned pop singer and musician, has recently begun a romantic relationship with previously mentioned Travis Kelce, sparking controversy and conspiracy on social media.
  • Mecole Hardman, a receiver for the Chiefs, scored a winning touchdown with just 13 seconds left in overtime, just barely scoring the Chiefs the victory.

About the Contributor
Samantha Sorensen, Staff Writer
Hi! My name is Samantha Sorensen and I am a sophomore at Hunter High School. Some things I like to do for fun are hang out with friends and family, watch movies, and go shopping. My interest for journalism started when I took a speech and debate class during my freshman year of high school. I discovered that I like arguing a point and trying to make a change, but I didn't like the competition. I feel that because of this, Journalism is a better fit for me, because I can write influential stories and prove a point but without the competition and arguing, and so far I am really enjoying this class. This school year I am looking forward to meeting new people and learning new things, and I am hoping to broaden my horizons in journalism.
