Active participation

Class activities

Active participation is something that counts in classes nowadays due to a few changes that have been made to the system where your active class participation is graded and if you refuse to participate it might lower your grade. This goes for journalism classes and creative writing. According to the journalism teacher, it is a hard time having students who do not work in class and they just are on their phones.

According to her and the Counseling Office, you have to talk to her before joining this class, which is also required by the district and should be taken seriously. As the district states that this class is designed as a writing workshop, students will learn to write clearly and concisely for the production of the school newspaper, and possibly blogs.

The course teaches specific writing skills of research and interviewing for editorial, features sports and news articles. But as for now, there is a large number of people who still have not turned in anything, nor have they worked on anything this entire semester. She has tried many strategies, but some students have given no results. Interestingly, one of the reasons students take this class is to get English elective credit, and refusing to work does not help them at all. Thanks to all students who turn in things and actively participate in class. We appreciate your hard work, and for following the district rules.
