Teachers decorating their classroom for the holidays

For every holiday or season, I have at least one teacher who decorates their classroom to match the vibes. Ms. Walker who is a Family and Consumer Science teacher is one of my teachers who always decorates her classroom to match the season or holiday. This is the first year that I’ve had her but she decorated for back to school with banners quoting ‘welcome back’, ‘back to school’, and school-related stickers. She decorated for Halloween with a super cool Halloween clock, some purple lights, banners, stickers, etc. She also decorated for fall/Thanksgiving with fall leaves, and ‘thankful’ quotes. My favorite this far has been Walker’s Christmas decorations, decorated with a different clock that does make noise when every hour hits, a Santa telephone, Christmas lights, a mini tree, and more.

I enjoy it so much when teachers do this, as it makes their classrooms feel a little more cozy and ready for the holidays. It makes the holidays a little more special while being in school, which can be difficult at times. I know there can be some people who might not celebrate these specific holidays but some decorations always seem nice and students don’t seem to complain about them. If you like how teachers are decorating their classrooms, make sure to compliment them. I’m sure they’d love to hear it after everything that goes into decorating.

Brenda Hernandez, Staff Writer
My name is Brenda. I am a senior here at Hunter High School. This is my second year attending Hunter. I attended Cyprus for my freshman and sophomore year. I'm looking forward to graduating and continuing school to get an associate's degree in medical sonography. Some of my favorite things to do include being with my family, reading, drawing and painting, doing my makeup, and being with my little sister. I've always been into writing and reading. English has always been my favorite subject in school. I've always liked reading the stories we get assigned or writing assignments and that is why I took journalism. One thing I wish for is to get to know more by the end of the year; more about what journalism is about and making sure the people who are interested in it take it.
