Get your head in the game

Softball and baseball are two of the biggest spring sports here at Hunter. This evening we have tryouts for both sports and there are many teens from every grade hoping to make the schools team. With tryouts today you can see people getting ready to give it their all. Softball has had around 50 girls come to the first day of tryouts so the pressure is on. Today, February 25, they will have the last day of tryouts at 3:00 PM on the field to see who will officially be making the team. Yesterday, February 24, was the first day you could come so that the softball coaches could get a good look at you. There were drills they did as a team, batting cage drills, and so much more. Every girl who showed up was hoping to make a good impression of themselves to Coach Carlson. Today cuts will be made to determine whether or not you get to join Hunters highs softball team, and the girls are very excited.

Of course with all excitement there will always be some nerves. With a little over fifty girls who came to first try outs, it can get really stressful. Coach Carlson definitely has some good options ahead of her to see who will make the team. Some girls who are trying out have played for years, and for some this is just the beginning. Coach will help them through what they need help with, and be taught what they need to know. Although coming into a high school sport as a beginner with no experience can be good, it can also be hard to make the team. There are many girls who try out that have played for years, so walking in as a beginner, it can be hard to keep up. I am personally a beginner myself and plan on trying out. Not sure if I’ll make it but I’m hoping that it’s a good learning experience. To any wolverines trying out, good luck!
