The importance of grieving

Carlos Whitmer, Staff Writer

Bad things always happen in life and it’s important to always acknowledge and treat them in a way that is healthy for our mental and physical health. These events can be all types of things such as death, relationships, and the suffering of people we care about, and many other bad situations. Everybody experiences grief differently and everybody deals with it in a different way, some may feel anger while others may just be sad. It also takes people different amounts of time in order to start feeling the same as they used to be.  Sometimes these experiences might be something that stay there for their entire lives, the important thing is not to let it control you, but rather learn strategies on how to treat it.

Now what is grief? Grief is the feeling of extreme sorrow and sadness that usually appears after the death of a loved one. This is a natural reaction to death and it is a healthy way to get over the loss of someone important, but too much grieving can be mentally and physically unhealthy. You have to always remember to get your life back on track and keep pulling through all of these events. You can always remember a person, but you have to remember that they are gone and that what’s important is making sure that you can persevere.

Another important thing about grieving is that everyone copes with it differently. Some people may want to spend some time alone in order to collect thoughts and others might seek people out to find comfort. If this ever happens to you or someone else, comfort them and if it happens to you, you just have to remember that it’s a natural thing to go through and that it’s unavoidable.
