Four weeks left

Kaydence Richens, staff writer

Can you believe we only have four weeks left of the 2017-2018 school year. I myself am actually a little excited for this school year to be finished. I am only going to be a sophomore, so I can’t even start to imagine how the soon to-be-seniors feel. My brother (Kalob Richens) is going to be a senior next year, so I asked him a couple of questions.

I asked Kalob how he feels about there only being a couple weeks left of his junior year in high school. He replied “Good; senior year couldn’t come any faster.” He has been working really hard to earn all of his credits so he could be given the opportunity to graduate as early as the end of first semester.

When asked if he is in any way nervous or scared to be almost out of high school, he answered “I’m not as much nervous as I am excited. The past few years have been a roller coaster [ride] and I can’t wait to be out of school.” I love this answer because almost every super senior I have talked to have responded that they wish they were still in high school. They say they were super excited to be getting out of school, but as soon as they graduated they missed it all. I guarantee that one day Kalob will be saying the same thing, even though right now he seems to want to get out of here.

Now on the other hand, although I am super excited there is only four weeks left of this school year, I am a little scared for my sophomore year. Even though I know my way around the school and have always done pretty well in classes, I heard sophomore year is one of those most difficult years, plus knowing I will be one year closer to graduating scares me. This school year has flown by fast. It feels like just last week I was worrying about getting lost and not knowing my way around.
