Parent Teacher Conferences

Midterms are approaching, and so are parent-teacher conferences here at Hunter High. They will be held Tuesday, February 6, and Wednesday, February 7 from 4-7 PM. According to Hunter’s website, these conferences will only be held in person. However, if your parent or guardian isn’t available, and you wish to communicate other options, emailing your teacher specifically would be most effective.

For a lot of students, these conferences may raise concern or worry, myself included. However, I was relieved to learn that most teachers aren’t looking to relay any negative information about you to your parents. I learned this first-hand in my math class with Mr. Garner. He stated to our class, in regards to the first-semester parent-teacher conferences, that he doesn’t want to tell our parents “anything bad”, or say anything that could get us in trouble. He said that personally, he likes to tell parents about the good things we’ve accomplished in class. I can’t ensure the same with other Hunter teachers, but with the new Hunter High Pride citizenship program in place, I’m sure if you have a good attitude and outlook on school, our wonderful staff would have nothing but positive things to say.

About the Contributor
Samantha Sorensen, Staff Writer
Hi! My name is Samantha Sorensen and I am a sophomore at Hunter High School. Some things I like to do for fun are hang out with friends and family, watch movies, and go shopping. My interest for journalism started when I took a speech and debate class during my freshman year of high school. I discovered that I like arguing a point and trying to make a change, but I didn't like the competition. I feel that because of this, Journalism is a better fit for me, because I can write influential stories and prove a point but without the competition and arguing, and so far I am really enjoying this class. This school year I am looking forward to meeting new people and learning new things, and I am hoping to broaden my horizons in journalism.
