This past week, or two, have been such a hassle with the hall sweeps every day from 1st to 2nd period and it has just been annoying for all of us. There have been rumors going around that now they give you a  fine of $5 when you have over two yellow tardy slips or every time you receive a slip and are late. I’m not sure if it is true because it is just a rumor but if it is true then it should be announced instead of staying as rumors to encourage the students to not be late and not take them by surprise when they find out they owe money for being late to class.

In my opinion, they shouldn’t be doing hall sweeps for ou first period for a few reasons, most of the time it isn’t our fault when it comes to being late to our first period because we all have something going on at home whether it is our parents or we have to wait for siblings who have to go to school at around the same time as you do. Every Friday I am almost late to my first period but only because I have to wait for my younger sibling to also be ready because she enters at 8:30 am like me, the second reason is that traffic exists, anything can happen on the road and the worst one of all is the traffic which slows everyone down, especially in the morning when people are trying to get to work or school and the last reason is because of the line that usually happens when trying to get into school because of the detector, sometimes there are long lines that won’t go by quickly which makes some of us late even if we weren’t intending to be late at all.

Hall sweeps may be helping a bit but deciding to do one for first period every day is just annoying and overwhelming for many students including me.
