Quarantine effects on local restaurants

Xitlali Martinez, Staff Writer

As you all may have heard the pandemic has had a huge impact on local restaurant businesses and had unfortunately caused many that were unable to provide take-out services to close. Tepanyaki a local Japanese steakhouse chain was one of the restaurants that unfortunately had no choice but to close. Other family owned businesses were also essentially forced to shut down or ultimately had a big decrease in clientele and sales. Hours for many employees have been cut and many have had since had to apply for unemployment. A big decrease in sales is a huge hit for small family owned restaurants and can unfortunately cause them to lose their businesses. By supporting your local restaurants (preferably family owned and not a chain like Mcdonald’s or Panda Express) you can help out fellow members of the community.
