Salt Lake City 5.7 Earthquake

Salt Lake city was hit by a moderate earthquake says officials, the earthquake coming in at 5.7 magnitude. The event happened in northern manga just off of the I-80 highways leading to Nevada. The event happened on March 18th, Wednesday morning at 7:09 a.m which was a nice wake up call to the residence of Salt lake. Followed by the massive earthquake was hundreds of after shocks, one of the biggest climbing into the 4.0 magnitude territory. Rumors started to go around about an even bigger earthquake, this however was false, the odds of a bigger earthquake was anywhere between 0.5% and 1%, This math was added up from Utah’s past earthquake experiences. Utah’s fault can only get up around a 7.0 magnitude earthquake at the max. After the main event happened, damaged places where being discovered quickly, a building in down town salt lake city was discovered to have cracked walls and even a broken, crumbled down wall  on the side of the building coming down due to the 5.7.

There was no reported injury’s or deaths from the earthquake but officials say that thousands of people lost power. Throughout the next 2 weeks, tons of after shocks would happen and even till today (4/6) almost 3 weeks later we are still having small after shocks, the most recent one as of writing this was one at a magnitude of 0.6 at 8:16 a.m. Earlier last week (3/31) Idaho was struck by a massive 6.5 earthquake and still are suffering today from it.
