As springtime is just around the corner, many are thrilled to think of summer and its adventures along with memories that can be made with family and friends. Many have already made their plans for an enjoyable summer, while others have already made plans in order to stay safe from an alarming virus that can now be considered as pandemic. For this reason a member from the International Olympics Committee (IOC),has already stated concern for the upcoming games and events from which will take place in Tokyo, Japan. Main reason for its major concern is not only the well being of the athletes that could be put to risk but also the citizens health that may be put into danger due to the virus.
The coronavirus already has it’s count with at least 80,000 cases and approximately 3,000 deaths. If the virus is not to be taken care of not only one but many could be at risk of getting the virus or spreading it. Others are to oppose the idea due to past cancellations that were done in 1916 and in 1940 both to which were because of World War 1 and World War ll. For many, it’s been a tradition that they have long carried with streaks, but if it were to be canceled, it would be considered as the first peacetime cancellation. For the time being the games are still to be held but if numbers were to rise, all games would have to be postponed or yet cancelled.
