Spirit week is coming fast

The first few days of March signifies many new beginnings, such as on March 8th the clock will spring one hour forward for daylight savings. Though the first week of March is also when Hunter High School begins the major festivities for spirit week. Students might participate in the daily themes to dress up as to gain spirit points for their class or grade level.

Throughout the entire school year students could have attended football or other sports games at the school to gain points. Now the time has come for the real battle between grade levels 9th-12th to compete to show who has the most spirit at Hunter High School.

Students who have spare time on their hands might want to stay after school the week before spirit week. To help their student body officers and class officers in decorating the hallways, in exchange each student who helps out will gain more spirit points for their class. This doesn’t only ensure more competition, but it also makes the week students come back for spirit week more fun to enjoy how each of the hallways are decorated.

How the hallways look is very crucial since  students who will be representing  other schools  in Granite School District such as: Granger High School, Cyprus High School, etc. Will be coming to judge how the hallways look and decide which hallway looks best. The results of this decorating contest will be revealed after the assembly that is held on the very last day of spirit week on Friday.

Which also means students from each grade will wear their class shirts that will be on sale at the beginning of spirit week. Freshman or 9th graders will wear grey shirts to represent their grade, sophomores or 10th grade wear black shirts. While juniors or 11th graders will wear navy blue, and the seniors who will be graduating in the spring wear white.

On the last day of spirit week students wear these  shirts to the assembly to showcase how much school spirit they have.

Multiple activities only happen during spirit week, such as finding the spirit stick. If you happen to find the spirit stick, you will gain major points for your grade level. It’s a fun scavenger hunt with students rampaging the hallways trying to locate the spirit stick. Students wait patiently for the school officers to reveal hints or clues on it’s whereabouts. Spirit week is one of the most fun weeks at Hunter High School so make sure to get involved and try to gain points for your class.
