The Outsiders

Melina Gutierrez, Staff Writer

“The Outsiders” is a book based on two gangs called the greasers and the socs, the greasers were all the kids that didn’t have money didn’t have a lot of stuff like others and those characters were Ponyboy, Sodapop, Curtis, Darrel, Dallas, Johnny, and Steve. And the socs were a different gang they actually had both of there parents had money and had more things than others because they were rich and they felt really special and everybody wanted to be friends with them those characters were Bob, Cherry, Marcia, and Randy. And in the book it said that Ponyboy and Johnny were escaping a murder so they went to a different town this book was filmed in Tulsa, Oklahoma, People ask why it is named like that it was named like that because it meant greasers ponyboys also known as a gang.
I say that it’s a really good book [and movie] because its interesting and it can show others what are the consequences that can happen if they decide to not do the right choice. And this book was non-fiction and they say that the movie is PG 13 so a lot of people don’t like the movie because of that reason that is PG 13. It also made for an outstanding play for Hunter High School.
