Texas teen

A Texas teen got told that he would not be able to walk at graduation unless he cuts his locks. To start with why did the school district wait to tell the teen now and not the very first day the teen ended up getting suspended and warn that he will not be able to walk at graduation if he doesn’t cut his locs. The way in which black people wear out their hair has become a topic of discussion in particular places but it has recently become a bigger issue amongst teens youth.
According to the CBS News, the school board insists the issue has nothing to do with race but parents and activists disagree. Deandre Arnold has fallen victim to the school board’s “dress code”, limiting the types of hairstyles allowed. What does the teens locks have to do with his excellent academic achievements it may be the schools policy for certain hairstyles, which some of us may understand however; why allow him to go on the entire school year with his hair then decide on graduation day he can’t walk.
Dress codes like these should be banned from schools for many reasons. If a student has never gone through something like this it might hurt and offend them. For example, when it happens to them the teen is instantly going to think that it has do with racism. The student may think that it’s because of their skin color or even their race and languages that they speak. Because never did teens think that this would ever happen, It is not good for schools to have dress codes like this in schools. It may have good pros but there is also cons to it that may affect the teen and the parents.
