When the flu season arrives, you dread the feeling of catching a sickness and having to deal with it, there are ways to avoid this though and give you the best chance of staying healthy in this cold winter season. There are many different tips when it comes to avoiding sickness, the biggest and best being vaccines. Vaccines help get your body ready and if you do catch the flu then your body will already know how to combat it. The other best ways are to keep up your healthy habits like washing your hands and staying clean. There are also a lot of manners that you should keep in this season to try to keep yourself and the people around you safe.

The first line of defense from the flu is the vaccine. The vaccine uses a form of the virus that is no longer functional, and this helps the body develop antibodies to fight against it when a functional form of the virus enters the body. It is never too late to get the vaccine and it takes up to two weeks for the antibodies to form and protect you. The virus itself can not give you the flu, this is a common misconception but it is important to remember that the virus in the injection is already weakened to the point that it can not get you sick. There are some minor side effects such as nausea, soreness, and some other minor effects. While this may seem bad, it is better than the symptoms that you have to go through if you get the flu.

The second most important thing to do is to stay clean. You have to keep yourself and your area clean in order to keep any strand virus away from you. You also have to have proper etiquette and you do need to sneeze or cough then do it into your arm. This way you can’t spread the virus to other people who are not sick. An important tip about this is to also remember not to become paranoid about staying clean. You’ll be okay if you do get sick, it is easily treatable and not much to worry over. You do have to try to prevent it, but remember that it won’t ruin your life.

When this next flu season arrives, you´ll be able to avoid it by using common sense and getting your flu shot. Just remember that you want to stay as healthy as possible and if you do get then try to be respectful and cough into your arm instead of getting other people sick.
