Decades first super moon
February 7, 2020
This weekend is the first super moon of the new decade. It will be present on Sunday, February 9. This crazy sight will be at its brightest at 2:33 AM Eastern Time. The nick name given to the moon will be called “The Snow Moon” because of the moon’s huge presence in snow storms hundreds of years ago. The Moon will be a crazy 12,000 miles closer to the earth, making it about as close as the moon can get to the earth. The moon normally stands around 238,000 miles away from the earth but during this time period it will stand at 226,000 miles away from the earth.
For the next 3 months there will be one super moon making it the first 4 month streak of super moons recorded. The Sunday this sighting happens will also mark the lunar new year in the Chines zodiac, making it the year of the rat. That Sunday morning will just be filled with crazy things so make sure you don’t miss out on this rare sighting.
