Utah Senator Mitt Romney votes for Impeachment

Utah’s senator Mitt Romney claims he will vote for President Trumps impeachment. For the past few months, impeaching President Trump has been been going around the House of Representatives and he eventually was impeached by the House, but the Senate has to vote on if they’ll actually impeach him. The House made the vote to impeach him about a month ago and now it’s at the Senate ready to get voted on to confirm if he’ll get impeached or not.

The statistics say that he’ll most likely stay as president because the Democrats are out numbered by Republicans, but if Mitt Romney makes this call, he will be the only Republican to vote for his impeachment. He says that he knows he will be discriminated by his party and face repercussion from the President though. He said he’s making this choice because Trump violated the trust of the American people and stated, “I swore an oath before God to apply impartial justice, and as you know, I’m a very religious person.” This was what Mitt Romney told the Tribune, adding “I take that very seriously.”

Will this change the odds of the President getting impeached, if even just a little? but it’s still very likely that he will remain in office. So far he is the only Republican to vote for his impeachment but who knows if anymore will pop up in the future.
