Torties

Torties

Tortie cats are a very interesting type of cat and are named after their multicolored fur. The color of their fur is a wide mix of red, black, and orange with a bit of brown. But that isn’t always the case. Sometimes their fur comes in darker, or more of one specific color, which is the result of their genetics. Their fur makes them such beautiful breeds of cats.

Another main thing about torties that is very important to know before getting one is their attitude. Or as some like to say, their “tortitude.” They can be extremely feisty and very often have a change in their mood. Which can be okay. Though, it’s as if in one second, your tortie can go from snuggling you to not wanting anything to do with you. They are a very independent breed, but do show a strong and ultimately loyal connection to their owners.

Something that interests most people about torties is the fact that they are almost all female. About 1 out of 3,000 of these cats end up being male. They are so rare and hard to come across. When it comes to the color of a male torties fur, they are one full color alone. Whereas, the females are a mix of colors because they have two X chromosomes that carry the genes which give them the different colors in their fur.

Torties are an all together perfect best friend for anyone who needs one. They are fun, playful, loving, and will keep you company. Along with that they can/will be their own person. Which makes them even more spectacular.
