Have you heard about the University of Utah field trip? Well lately at the University of Utah they held a Black Student Union Conference. And they had different sessions for the conference and rotations in between. They titled it “Oh, The Places You’ll Go” and what it was just talking about was many roads and options to travel to after you finish high school. They also explained how they wanted to help to ensure that they set the greatest path for black students to succeed. They wanted to provide tools for black students to fulfill their journey and continue the tradition of Black Excellence. The whole purpose of the Black Student Union Conference at the University of Utah is to recognize the need for black students’ voices and the importance of them in the communities. Their main goal is to provide resources for their black students and to provide them with a platform to show themselves without any limits. They also want to create an open environment where black students can share their interests. But the Black Student Union Conference according to Malindow Murisal, “it made me feel connected. I enjoyed the Black Student Union Conference. It taught me respect. And it helped me prepare for my future.” In addition, “It made me feel close to my people. I thought the Black Student Union Conference was okay. But it did make me proud to be an African American.”  according to Desire Ramazani. In fact, the Black Student Union wants to increase cultural unity. They also want to have more leadership opportunities for black students.
