Hunter High construction

Here at Hunter High we have had on going construction since around the beginning of 2019. I have decided to look more into what is going on with the construction so we can all know a little more about what’s really going on with our school. I interviewed assistant principal Sherri Branch to get some information from the inside.

Branch states “We have students being accepted into, and wanting to come to Hunter so we hope that adding onto our school will bring more students to our school.” Students have been coming into Hunter very frequently so we are eager to see if by adding onto our school, this will attract more students.

I was also very curious about whether or not our relocatable classrooms were going to be taken away permanently. “Although we are not 100% sure what will happen to our relos in the future, the majority of us [staff]do want to get rid of them” said Branch. I wanted to find out the pros and cons of having a relocatable classroom, and if they are preferred over classrooms inside the building.

“Relocatable’s are your own classroom, almost your own building. I don’t know if I would rather have a relo or a classroom because with classrooms you also have to think about hallways. Kids can walk past your class whenever they want and disturb your students. So i’m not sure i’m going to enjoy that. But having a relo does make the teachers feel very remote and alone. I do believe that because most relo teachers are core subjects, it will make it more convenient for students. Says Briggs, a math teacher at Hunter High.

Our construction is planned to be finished by summer of 2020 so teachers can move in and it will be ready for use for the 2020-2021 school year.
