Recycling changes

In the end of 2018, the Utah Department of Environmental Quality started to talk about the recycling changes that were going to come into the Utah valley in 2019 through 2022. The changes are going to start in 7 cities in the South Salt Lake County which are; Draper, Murray, Midvale, Riverton, Sandy, and South and West Jordan. These changes are making it so most paper can’t be recycled like printer paper, newspaper, mail, magazines, and cereal boxes. Now what is being focused on in the recycle company is cardboard, plastic bottles, and metal food cans. Instead of recycling paper Utah Department of Environmental Quality is working on getting a paper mill built which will cut down costs. The reason the recycling industry is having such major changes is because China is working on becoming more eco-friendly. Since China is making this huge change the people in the counties that have the change are going to pay an extra $1.50 more just to recycle.
