Tryouts for the multicultural dance assembly will be held on November 7th and 8th. Come and tryout to participate in the assembly. This assembly allows everybody to show pride in their culture and show the diversity Hunter High has. For years, being different than others has been seen as a bad thing or weird, but this generation has proven that they know that everybody is the same. School’s have many different people with many different cultures that all can enjoy to study. One culture that seems to be the biggest at Hunter High is the Mexican culture. America seems to have adapted to a little bit of it due to the many immigrants from Mexico that seek help for a better life, one of the things that have been adapted is el Dia de los Muertos, or the day of the dead. This celebration is held from October 31st to November 2nd. People decorate their loved ones graves with marigold flowers, sugar skulls, and foods that their loved ones enjoyed. They can also put up an ofrenda, where they put their loved ones pictures on a small table and decorate it with many different things that they enjoyed while they were alive. It may not be popular all over the country, but for Hispanic communities, it would not be rare to see one or two ofrendas.

This assembly will have diversity and will be able to allow students from different cultures to show how beautiful and unique their culture is. Many different cultures have spread out in America and showing how different and unique ones own culture is, it really is a beautiful thing. To be able to show people who you are and what things you do from where you come from is such an interesting thing. We have proven as a generation that we all like to try different things and get to know people who are different. Getting to know different cultures is a fascinating thing, so please tryout for the multicultural dance assembly. The tryouts will be on November 7th and 8th.
