What about 4-day weeks

Waking up for school on a Friday can be tiring and hard to get through your usual morning routines. That is why schools should switch to 4 days of schooling. The benefits of having a four day week is teachers can have a extra day off to grade their student’s assignments and/or tests, teachers and students won’t have to with as much stress, and transportation cost will go down like for gas, bus rides, etc.

First, teachers can have a extra day off to grade their student’s assignments and/or tests. This is beneficial for teachers because if there was school that day teachers would have to grade more things over the weekends. Having Fridays off will also mean teachers can use that time to grade their students work and have Saturday and Sunday to do what ever they want on their free time. And this will set a better mood for teachers for when they come back to work on a Monday.

Second, teachers and students won’t have to with as much stress. Having 5 days of school can be stressful because students may have to take a test on Fridays and teachers have to grade them over the weekends. This will cause stress for students because they might not get a very good score on the test. And for teachers considering how many classes teachers have, it may bring up the amount of tests or assignments teachers have to grade. Students may have a lot of homework the teachers assigned on the weekends and won’t have time to do anything because of this.

Finally, transportation cost will go down like for gas, bus rides, etc. This means that the school won’t have to spend more money on school bus gas. And parents won’t have to waste money on gas so it is also beneficial to the student’s parents. Nowadays gas is quite pricey and having a 4 day week of school will help save money for gas. And for students who take public transportation they won’t have to spend more money on public transportation.

On the other hand, there are some cons that comes with 4 day weeks of school. For example it can possibly create a longer school year for students because usually students have to get a certain amount of education a year. Let me explain, this will mean that the schools that runs on the traditional Monday-Friday schedule will get out of summer break first. however, schools that run on a Monday-Thursday schedule will get out later than the schools with a Monday-Friday schedule. This will be a concern for most parents.

To sum up my thoughts, schools should convert over to 4 day weeks of school because teachers can have a extra day off to grade their student’s assignments and/or tests, teachers and students won’t have to with as much stress, and transportation cost will go down like for gas, bus rides, etc.
