Wolverines take down Clearfield 31-8

In week two, Hunter’s footbal team traveled up to Clearfield to play the Clearfield High Falcons. They won by a score of 31-8. They dominated Clearfield holding them to just eight points and shutting them out in the first half. (A shut out means to allow a team to score zero points) Penalties were a killer for Hunter as they had 19 for 155 yards. It seemed like after every single play there was a flag.

Quarterback Daisean Cash completed 16 of 29 passes for 227 yards and tossed three touchdowns (TD). He also had two rushing touchdowns to bring his total to five for the day, all five of our scores were from him. Rushing was not as dominate as last week but was once again very balanced. Running back (RB) Jordan Tupea had 40 yards on 12 carries to lead the team. Saia Lomu had 41 yards on nine carries. Cash had 11 yards on nine carries and a huge touchdown run that was taken back due to a penalty. Once again many receivers caught passes, six to be exact. Nate Suaste lead all in both catches, five, and yards, 77, he also had his third TD catch of the year already. Saia Lomu had two TD catches to go along with his three catches for 66 yards. Wyatt Swanty also had three catches for 30 yards. Taylor Savage and Antony Garcia had two catches for 30 and 16 yards respectively. Jordan Tupea caught a pass for eight yards.

We had four sacks on the defensive side of the ball and many more taken away due to penalty. Lorenzo Tuaone, Lucius Asiasiga, Tavian Anderson, and our very own SBO President Kiwi Tuivaiti all had a sack. Lorenzo also forced a fumble and recovered it. Clayton Spotten had another interception, his second in as many games, and Dallas Brown intercepted his first pass of the season.

Overall it was a very good game for the team minus the penalties. The students who made the trek out to Clearfield helped make it loud and were good supporters to the team. In week three Hunter has their home opener against Westlake.
