Positive advice from positive people: Austin and Kalissa

Kalissa Kennedy and Austin Jensen

Q: What are good classes to take to become a pediatrician?

A: We both agree that multiple sciences classes would be very beneficial if you plan on going down the medical route. Anatomy and Physiology, Biology, Medical Terminology, and so many more classes are recommended. You should also make sure you are really taking in information from English, because in the medical field speaking and understanding is very important. Another class that would be a great one to take would be a second language. Speaking more than one language in a clinic, or hospital could help you and the rest of the staff fully understand a patient, and be able to communicate. There are a lot of other classes that would be beneficial, but these are just a few of the really big ones.

Q: As a freshman, what can I do to prepare for college?

A: It is never too early to start planning your future, and your first year of high school is a great year to really get an idea of what you would like to do. Some things you could try to do is make sure to frequently meet with your counselor. They have so many great opportunities for you, and they have great advice when it comes to colleges, and all the information you need to know. One other way you can prepare is to have a good idea of what classes you want to take depending on what you want to major.
