Social media addiction
March 21, 2019
Over time there has been a growth in all sorts of new apps such as Facebook, Instagram, and you can’t forget one of the fastest growing app in today’s history, Snapchat. For me personally, I have been affected with this addiction. I mean I can barely even get a B+ in one of my favorite classes (Journalism) because of this addiction. I will be on one of these apps looking at stuff that doesn’t matter. I have seen this growth in my peers too even to where I know of some people failing classes just for the simple fact they can’t stay off of their phones. Studies show that as of 2018, Instagram was known to be the worst app for a human being. And here’s why, people try to show off a different life on Snapchat or Instagram and I have seen it first hand with all of my friends. Not only that but I have known of people I cared about become let down and even take to the extreme to attempt suicide. Just because of people criticizing someone else’s ‘perfect’ life. I am sorry to say this but I feel like over time this social media is going to get more out of hand than it already is, like I mean one of my little cousins who is not even a year old will start crying if you have your phone around and you turn it off. This addiction is starting to affect kids at younger and younger ages. It is honestly sickening how much this will affect your life. I know first hand because I am addicted to my cell phone. This needs to stop not just for me but today’s society as a whole.
