Wind chills in Chicago are minus 44 degrees, Minneapolis, is minus 55 degrees, and minus 66 degrees in Ponsford, Minnesota. The coldest wind chill this morning was in Ely, Minnesota, which was recorded as minus 70 degrees. That chill is only one degree from the coldest wind chill ever recorded in Minnesota. Minneapolis and Chicago’s real temperatures reached minus 28 and minus 23 degrees.

In result of these temperatures and wind chills, the US Postal Service hasĀ  cancelled deliveries for Minnesota. More than 800 flights have been called off as well as trains to and from Chicago. Colleges have even cancelled their classes. The cold air will spread to the East and West. In the Midwest, temperatures will increase over the weekend – just in time for the Super Bowl!
