Happy for Utah Utes basketball
March 22, 2018
Wednesday March 21, 2018, the University of Utah basketball team scored big-time in their overtime win. The Utes won soundly 67-58, beating Gaels of Saint Mary’s in NIT quarterfinals in Moraga, California.
The NCAA Utah Utes are headed to New York City for the NCAA college basketball semifinals. Utah is the only remaining team of the PAC 12 playing post season.
In an overtime contest that was close throughout, the No. 2-seeded Utes topped the No. 1-seeded Saint Mary’s Gaels 67-58 Wednesday night on the road in the NIT quarterfinals to advance to the semifinals at Madison Square Garden.
When the game was tied at 57 with 2:11 remaining, Utah closed on a 10-1 run due to excellent play from Sedrick Barefield and Gabe Bealer. Barefield clearly was the difference in Utah’s overtime session of 13-4. He had two 3-pointers in that final two minutes, which was three total in overtime, and he had five for the game to finish with 19 points.
This made one teacher at Hunter very happy; a long-time Utah basketball fan. Go Utes as they play Western Kentucky, Tuesday, March 27, 5 p.m. MT in New York City.
