Hunter basketball 2017-18 4th Quarter season report

Gage Versteeg, Sports Editor

Hunter’s boys basketball team has just finished their season. In the final six games they went 1-5. With a win over Hillcrest by eight points. Two losses to both Granger and Cyprus and one to Kearns were the five losses. The first game against Granger, was one of the best of the year. Although we lost in overtime it was a close battle that had everyone standing up almost the whole fourth quarter and all of overtime.

As I have been saying just about all season Jimmy Harding was the leading scorer. Over the six game stretch he averaged 17.4 points. He also averaged 8.2 rebounds and got two double-doubles ( a double-double is when you get double digits in two different stats, ex. 10 points 10 rebounds). Emmanuel Mulibea had a good stretch scored 8.6 points and just under five rebounds. Jonathon Tonumaipea and Daisean Cash chipped in 8.8 and 7.2 points points per game.

As the season comes to a close there are a lot of things to look at. Going 1-11 in region play will ultimately not get you in many places but the other teams in the region were good. Kearns only lost three games while winning 20 in the process. Both Granger and Cyprus won 14 games. Hillcrest went a respectable 8-13. Overall this season was a down one but it was better than last season so hopefully that trend will continue and next year we are better. So long for now until next year.
