Let’s complain about the Grammys

The big, the bold, the bright singers of 2017! All gather in one place (I think it was Madison Square Garden but don’t quote me on that), and give out awards to those who actually ARE the big, the bold, and the bright. I’ve never been a fan of the Grammys, or the Oscars, or anything as you can tell, but yet here we are. “Lucky for you”, Bruno Mars swept the competition, winning best record, album, song of the year, etc… “Don’t believe me just watch”, the re-runs of it if you can’t believe it. Kendrick Lamar swept the rap categories and Alessia Cara taking the “best new artist” Grammy. Halsey and Alessia Cara are carbon copies of each other voice-wise, and Halsey didn’t get any reward. I brought this up because “Closer” is playing down the hall right now, and it triggered me.
Can we talk about how Rihanna was wearing a freaking leather trash bag, and how Cardi B. looks like Mother Goose? That’s not the point. The Weeknd won an award for Best Urban Contemporary Album with “Starboy”, Ed Sheeran won Best Pop Vocal Album with that song title being…a freaking division sign.
This shows where the music industry is going. Is Ed Sheeran doing albums on math terms now? When’s the new song “+”, and “=” coming out? I can’t wait for “%.” It’s going to be great. He also won Best Pop Solo Performance for “Shape of You,”so that’s good. Shakira got one for Best Latin Pop Album with “El Dorado”, and a lot of other awards for people I don’t know, and/or don’t care to learn about.
So let’s take a moment of silence for 2017, and let’s hope that 2018’s music is somewhat better than what we had last year. NO Alessia Cara, just to make that clear, and let’s have high hopes for what’s in store this year. May the Grammy odds be ever in your favor.
