Hunter girl’s fourth quarter season report

Gage Versteeg, Sports Editor

The girl’s have finished their season and oh boy was it a good one. They finished 15-7 and 9-1 in region play. And to top it all off won the region championship. It was the first region championship for the girl’s team since the 2014-2015 season. Most students were either barely in junior high or even elementary school. They went 5-0 in the final five games and beat everyone Granger, West Jordan, Cyprus, Kearns, and Taylorsville. What a great season.

Angel Lui went on a great stretch with 15.4 points per game in the five games including 20 in the final game of the season. Olivia Harding scored 9.4 per game and Nevaeh Brown scored seven a game. Nevaeh Brown and Angel Lui were the two leading rebounders with 7.2 and 5.6 each. Also the team averaged a whooping 14 steals per game and have been averaging 13.1 per game for the whole season. They have done a great job and getting takeaways and not letting the other team score easy.

All around this year has been amazing, and going deep in the playoffs would make it even better. We beat West Jordan 48-41 as the 12th-seed taking on the 21st-seed in the first round and play fifth-seed Skyridge in the second round. A win would put us in the quarterfinals and would show everyone that they need to pay attention to the Hunter Wolverines. Good luck to them as they play the second round game on Wednesday, February 19th (today!) at Skyridge High.
