Hunter High school is doing a book drive to donate books to the Ronald McDonald House and Nursing Homes. You will get a bag of gummy worms for every three books you bring. This will go on from February 13th to the 22nd. They will accept coloring books and magazines. You can drop off the books during both lunches at the FCCLA table.

The Ronald McDonald House is a place where families with sick children can stay at when moving to different hospitals. They offer food and a place to stay when moving temporarily for medication. Guests don’t have to pay, but are asked to give a donation if possible. If a guest does not gibe a donation they will not be denied another stay if necessary. Many people have share their stories and say how much the Ronald McDonald house has helped them. They often say how much they appreciated the community and friends they made while they were staying at the houses. Reading these stories and how much the Ronald McDonald House has helped so many different people is something that can warm anyone’s heart.

Nursing homes are homes that help the elderly or disabled people. There are many elders who can no longer be cared for and are then taken to a nursing home, where they are cared for. One can volunteer to nursing homes where they can socialize with the elderly. Staff wants volunteers to make it have the feeling of being home. One can learn many things after they volunteer to a nursing home or senior centers.

If you have extra books consider bringing them tot he book box at the FCCLA table during both lunches.
