MLK Day is a federal holiday and falls on the third Monday of January. Despite the date of the holiday changing every year, it’s always celebrated on that third Monday of the year. The purpose of this holiday to celebrate King’s life and accomplishments. King was one of the most influential American civil rights leaders and to this day is praised and cherished for helping fuel the civil rights movement. His contributions helped win the fight in putting an end to segregation of African-American citizens in the United States. King was one of the biggest advocates for racial equality.

King has various memorable speeches that have become a staple in society. King’s most famous speech is his iconic and riveting “I Have A Dream” speech. This speech moved millions and helped bring a lot more attention to the Civil Rights Movement.
