Hunter girl’s basketball second quarter season report

Gage Versteeg, Sports Editor

The girls team just finished their non-region schedule so it’s time for another quarter report. They went 2-4 over the games but are still at .500 with a 6-6 total record. The wins were against Brighton and Bountiful. They lost to Lone Peak, Pleasant Grove, Jordan, and Westlake, all of whom are good teams in the top 15 RPI. Hunter is currently 14th in the RPI as well, which means a home playoff game against a lower-seed. Keeping that up momentum would be huge.

Angel Lui lead the team with 10.2 point per game during the six games including 21 in the win versus Brighton. Neavaeh Brown was second with 6.6 per game. Both are first and second for the season with 12.2 and 7.7 as well. They were one and two in rebounds in the stretch with 4.6 for Brown and four for Lui. They also are the season leaders with 5.3 for Brown and 4.6 for Lui. Olivia Harding led with 1.3 assists per game and is averaging 2.5 on the season.

Much like the boys team, no one is running away with the region. Unlike the boys although it isn’t anyone’s game. As of today, January 8th. West Jordan, Kearns, and Hunter all have six wins. It is looking like a three team race to see who wins region and Hunter is right in the middle of it. We play 10 region games, everyone twice, once on the road once at home. If we do good in region and either win it we will have a great seed come playoff time. All six of our losses have been quality losses and most of them close. We lost to 6A’s number one Westlake, eighth Pleasant Grove,10th Riverton , 11th Lone Peak, and 15th Jordan, and are ranked 14 ourselves already. Plus a loss to 5A’s number one Lehi. Region games start this Thursday January 9th, at Granger. Let’s go do amazing and take home region.
