Show support for the Hunter Madrigals

Carlos Whitmer, Staff Writer

The Hunter High Madrigals will be performing in different public locations this week and you should go and show them school support. Now some of you may be asking, what exactly is a madrigal choir. A madrigal choir is mostly just a small ensemble of voices who’s most music consist of a Capella. A Capella style means that they sing without any accompanying instruments and they just use their voices. This type of choir is also usually very skilled and filled with great singers. Our Hunter Madrigals fits this case and their performances are very impressive.

A couple of days ago, they performed at the West Valley Recreation Center. They performed hard and were still singing strong even though they were missing some of their own members. In our Hunter High Madrigals we have 5 different parts. These are Bass, Baritone, Tenor, Alto and Soprano. The bass are the ones with the deepest voices for the boys and the sopranos are the girls with the highest voices. By using these different parts, they can cover a huge range of different pitches. They can sing all types of different music and they do not even need to use instruments to help guide them. This is the thing that takes time to get good at. They need to learn the different pitches and use their ear to hear their fellow members around them to help guide them into using the right pitch. Please go and show them some support so they know that Hunter appreciates the time they take to practice and to become the great choir that they are now.
