Hunter set to play Copper Hills in first round of 6A playoffs

In the first year of the new playoff system, Hunter was awarded the 12th-seed and are set to face off against the 21st-seeded Copper Hills Grizzlies at home on Friday,October 25th at 5 PM. The Grizzlies finished the season 4-6 but went 0-5 in region play and finished last in Region Three. If we win we will play at the fifth-seed Kearns on Friday, November 1st.

The new RPI playoff system ranks each team in a classification (6A, 5A, so on and so on) from one to whatever number of schools are in the classification, for example 6A has 27 schools so they are ranked one to 27. The top five seeds get byes in the first-round and have a guaranteed home game in round two. The old system you had to finish in the top four in your region to qualify for the playoffs and not everyone made the playoffs but in the new system every team makes the playoffs. Some websites such as Deseret News predicted Hunter to be as high as the 10th-seed but the when the UHSAA rankings came out on October 19th it had us at 12.

Good luck to the team this Friday, let’s go get that win and go far into the playoffs.
