Wolverines comeback falls just short

Hunter’s football team made their home opener week three against the Westlake High School Thunder. A slow start for both teams, as the score was 7-0 Westlake at half. Westlake then scored 17 points in the third to make it 24-0. Hunter mounted a valiant comeback in the fourth that fell a little short as the game ended 24-14. They fall to 2-1 on the young season while it was the first win for Westlake and they are now 1-2.

Quarterback Daisean Cash completed 14 of 34 passes for 132 yards and one touchdown (TD) and threw two interceptions (INT). He exploded on the ground for 142 yards on 12 carries including a 93-yard touchdown run in the fourth. Running back Jordan Tupea had 40 yards on 11 carries and Saia Lomu had eight yards on two rushes. Six receivers caught passes, Wyatt Swanty lead with four catches for 28 yards. Nate Suaste and Jordan Tupea had three catches each for 23 and 15 yards, while Nate had his fourth TD of the year.Taylor Savage had two catches for 19 yards. Anthony Garcia and Xander Hill each had a single catch for 10 and 37 yards. Defensively, Kiwi Tuivaiti had a sack and Lucius Asiasiga had an interception.

In week 4 Hunter has their homecoming game against West Jordan.
