On March 11, 2019, my close cousin Kamree took her own life. This has definitely been a struggle to me and I’ve had a hard time talking about it to anyone. Luckily, I have close neighbors, friends, and family that I’ve been able to grow closer to and learn more from due to this. I recently ordered a necklace with Kamo’s birth date and death date on it, which came to me in the mail yesterday. It’s such a peaceful thing to have her closer to my heart.

I’m sure many of you have also struggled with death that has been close to your heart. I would openly suggest talking to the people around you. If you aren’t comfortable with that then I would highly suggest writing your feelings down or talking to your pet. I’ve found myself talking to my cat Mango about this because I feel like a burden when telling others about my struggles. Another thing I would like to tell you is that you will never be a burden. Even my own thoughts were wrong. So many people care, believe me.

If any of you are struggling with thoughts like the ones Kamree had, please, talk to someone. Your counselor, your parents, your teachers, your friends, etc. You are not alone. Please, reach out.
